Random access memory is known as RAM. This is temporary storage device of computer. While processing is running, data is temporarily stored in it for a short time span. During processing information is retrieved in a very short time span because in RAM data can be accessed random order. It does not matter that data we are accessing is related to previous access data or not. We cannot expect to do this type of random access with other storage mediums as optical disks, magnetic tape etc. This is a very important part of our computer.

RAM is a volatile type of memory means data, which stored in it is retained only with power on condition as soon as power off data or information is lost. RAM is of two categories one Static RAM and other one is Dynamic RAM. In dynamic RAM data is stored in the form of charge. So it needs refreshing time to time for this extra circuitry need to be added which is a cause of increasing cost.

The processing speed of any computer is depends upon its RAM. Computer processing speed is also increased with the enhancement in RAM. So if you are frustrated with low processing speed of your PC than only replace your computer RAM with higher capacity RAM and enjoy higher speed. But once you decided to do so than please check for its post sale service, warranty etc, which are the considerable factors.

If you are going to change your computer RAM than before doing it please check that your desired RAM should be compatible to your Mother Board because every RAM is not compatible to every Mother Board. Please prefer the authorized service center for enhancement (installation) purpose because under observation of truthful technicians the installation work is more reliable rather than yours.
